Objective: Identify a primary intention for this 30-day cycle
I didn’t follow the original book procedure to the letter. No doodles or drawings (at least not yet). When Sheila and I first created this process back in 2022, I imagined leisurely reflection without time pressure. But today, I’m in a different mindset. I want this to become a consistent, almost religious habit. And shorter sessions make that sustainable.

I set a 5-minute timer and asked myself: What do I want to shift in the next 30 days?
I wrote everything that immediately came to mind without filtering. Once the ideas were out, I ranked them on a 1-to-5 scale, with 1 being “no desire” and 5 being “burning desire.” My timer went off before I finished ranking everything. I gave myself another 5 minutes to write this log. Then I realized I was jumping ahead of the game and jumping ahead to a day 2 process already, but I guess it’s force of habit.
I went over my 5 minutes, but I deciced I’m okay with that since today is Saturday. More importantly, I’ve identified my primary objective for this experiment: Finish (and publish) more writing projects.
My hard drive is full of half-finished drafts and half-baked ideas. I keep imagining how different life could be if I simply finished, published, and shared the work I start. I won’t finish them all in 30 days. It’s been interesting so far, getting a taste of my own medicine with this book. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens when I (try to) follow my own advice for 30 days…
